LAVS is a non-Government, non-political, non-profit making organization engaged in the field of social development. It was founded by a group of like-minded social activists in the year 1991 and simultaneously registered under Society Registration Act XXI of 1860 in the year 1991. LAVS is a democratic, registered Non-Government Organization. Its affairs are carried out in accordance with a written constitution. It does not work for profit nor serves any sectarian interest. It eschews violence in any form. |

The apex decision making body is the General Body comprising of all its members. The governance is bestowed on a Governing Body democratically elected from among the General Body every 5 years. The President is the Chief executive of the organization. |

Motivate people for voluntary action & participation in development process. |

Generate awareness on energy conservation and promotion of alternate energy sources like solar energy, wind energy, biogas & smokeless chulla, etc. |

Conduct disaster preparedness and disaster response activities. |

Undertake programme/projects/study in the HIV/AIDS prevalence areas & ensure quality of life of the people living with HIV/AIDS |
